NDRF participates in mega mock exercise with Tripura state stake holders

GUWAHATI, June 16: A state level mega mock exercise on earthquake disaster with state stake holders was conducted on June 16 at Siphaijala (Bisramganj), West Tripura ( Agartala) and Gomati (Udaipur), Tripura simultaneously  to ensure effective response by all stake holder, officials in case of emergency. 1 BN NDRF took active participation and assisted TSDMA in planning and co-ordition at the initial stage and played a leading role during the mock exercise. Two officers, 14 Subordite Officers and 65 rescuers of NDRF participated in the mock Exercise at different locations. NDRF, Civil Defence, Fire Service, PWD Department, Medical staff, Fire service, ICA, DWS, Tripura State Rifles, Tripura State Electric Corporation Limited, volunteers from the community & NGOs participated in the exercise.

Major General V K Datta (Rtd), senior consultant (CB& ME) NDMA, Government of India, monitored the Mega Mock Exercise at different sites of Tripura.

NDRF rescuers during the exercise used various extrication methods like rope rescue, high rise rescue & victim stabilization after triage of victims following the disaster site safety plan.

On this occasion S K Sastri, Offg.Commandant 1 BN NDRF said, “These exercises ensure activation and prompt response of all stake holders in a state and such frequent mock Exercise also make the state response system more effective and result oriented at the time of actual disaster. Mock exercise provides suitable platform and sustaible mechanism for state and central authorities for synchronization and rapid employment of rescuers at district/state level. These exercises should be frequently conducted in every district as the whole NE region falls under high risk zone in terms of earthquake.”

The exercise concluded in evening with a note to organise more such exercise in future so that the effective response operations during earthquake could be carried out to save precious human lives. This was stated in a press release.
