NE development on Centre's radar: Gadkari

 Likabali (Aruchal), Nov 04: The Central overnment led by Prime Minister rendra Modi has attached too priority to the development of North Eastern region and decided to build 10,000 km roads worth Rs one lakh crore in NE, including in Aruchal Pradesh, Union MoRTH Minister Nitin Gadkari said here today.

He also announced that Rs 25,000 crore would be spent for developing roads in Aruchal to bring the much desired change.

“I am aware of your huge expectations from the Centre. If at the desire of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee I could conceive and facilitate building of PMGSY roads at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore to link 1, 70,000 villages, Aruchal roads would not be a difficult task,” he promised.

“It is your money and every penny should be utilised for your benefit. Roads hold key to speed and progress) and what could not be done in 50 years “I commit to achieve it within next five years,” Gadkari said after laying the foundation stones of Akajan-Likabali and Likabali-Bame roads.

The NDA Government has adopted Sabka saath, sabka vikash policy.

Proving the commitment of his ministry, Gadkari expressed his happiness that works of 134-km five double-lane projects had started, works of five more projects of 140-km worth Rs 1,387 crore awarded till October last would start soon and 136-km seven road projects on Hunli-Anini road worth Rs 1528 crore to be awarded soon are expected to be complete by 31.03.16 while 17 projects of 410-km worth Rs 4,295 crore would be sanctioned by 31.03.17, he disclosed.

Gadkari in principle announced approval four-lane Itagar-Banderdewa NH-52 A with rigid pavement and asked the state government to provide free land and submit estimates for approval and asked to submit revised estimates for 407-km double-lane Potin-Pangin sanctioned on BOT (Annuity) hybrid for Rs 1,985 crore urgently to start the work soon.

            Hinting at the commitment of Chief Minister bam Tuki to road building, PWD Minister Gojen Gadi, on behalf of the state government, assured allocation of land without compensation.

Gadi, in his presidential address, assured sought early sanction to approve the 2,100-km Mago in Tawang district to Vijaygar in Changlang district Aruchal Frontier Highway and 431-km East-West Industrial Corridor (EWIC) along the foothills once the state Govt allocates land. The DPRs for survey of both the projects have been submitted to the MoRTH, Gadi said and requested for early approval.

            Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju could not reach because of inclement weather. State’s STS Minister Jomde Ke, PWD Parliamentary Secretary Alo Libang, NHIDC MD Shanta Kumar, director Sanjay Jaju & CE (NER)-cum- NHIDC ED VK Rajavat, accompanied the minister who were received by the lawmakers, PWD CEs Bora Ete, Toli Basar, West Siang DC Pige Ligu and SP Mari Riba besides executing contractors M/s T K Engineers Consortium and M/s JKM representatives.
