NEC Coal India Limited flayed for dismissing 340 security guards

MARGHERITA, Feb 6: A protest meeting was held on Monday at Ledo Sports Academy Roadgaon Ledo in protest against the decision of North Eastern Coalfields Coal India Limited Margherita to dismiss 340 security guards from Tirap, Tikak, Ledo, Tipong, mdang Colliery and Margherita area as the company had hired Assam Industrial Security Forces from March 1.

The meeting was presided over by Debanda Gogoi while Bikash Dutta delivered the aims and objectives of the meeting. At the protest meeting, many student organizations, jourlists, intellectuals and social workers were present such as Kanchan Bora, adviser of AJYCP Margherita Regiol Committee, Lakhyajyoti Gogoi and Pappu Dutta, president and general secretary of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti Tinsukia District Committee, Ramanus Lakra and Milton John Kujur, president and adviser of AASAA Margherita Regiol Committee, Hemanta Gogoi, Mithun Baruah and Biki Das, jourlists of Margherita, Lakhi ndan Chetia, noted social worker of Ledo, Madhab Das, circle secretary of ATLU Margherita and more than 300 deprived security guards.

A convener committee was formed where Phunu Gogoi was selected as president, Dipankar Ghosh as vice-president, Bikash Dutta as general secretary, Kamal Baruah and Bijay Lama as assistant secretaries and Deepjyoti Borbora as treasurer with 11 executive members. In the meeting it was decided that if NEC Coal India Limited Margherita did not cancel the decision to dismiss 340 security guards then they would intensify their stir.
