Need counter strategy to take on opposition: Tuki

From Our Correspondent
Itagar, April 28: Alleging that the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) failed to deliver its promises and packages, former Aruchal Pradesh chief ministers P K Thungon and bam Tuki called upon the North East Congress Coordition Committee (NECCC) members to come up with an effective counter strategy to take on the opposition. Thungon and Tuki said this while addressing the first-ever meeting of NECCC held at New Delhi yesterday, a party release informed here today. The meeting, chaired by Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma, also saw All India Congress Committee vice president Rahul Gandhi and Aruchal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy give their deliberations. Sanjoy said that the state governments in the North East have a fear psychosis that they would not get funds while BJP is in power at the Centre. “The shifting of loyalty of Congress MLAs to BJP in Aruchal Pradesh in the me of getting development package from the Centre is just an excuse. The fact is that the present state government is uble to bring any development packages and schemes till date from the Centre,” he added. Among others who attended the meeting were AICC general secretary Dr C P Joshi, secretary Dr K Jayakumar, PCC presidents and CLP leaders from all the eight north eastern states, the release added.
