Need for unity among journalists stressed: Sangbadik Suraksha Mancha

Dibrugarh: The two-day convention of Sangbadik Suraksha Mancha (SSM), Assam, held at Xahityarathi Laxminath Bezbaruah Auditorium of Axam Sahitya Sabha on Sunday unanimously condemned the unprecedented behaviour by Dhubri MP and supremo of AIUDF, Badaruddin Ajmal who threatened to kill Kabir Mandal, a journalist of electronic media.

Speakers, who addressed the open meeting, chaired by SSM, Assam, president (in-charge), Hafizul Islam, elaborated different aspects and challenges of journalists of today and how they were exploited by the media houses of the State. Speakers also emphasized the need for unity among journalists in order to meet various forms of challenges they faced today. They also stressed that journalist should update their knowledge and skill for effective journalism.

The speakers included Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bhrat Mission, Assam , Dr Sashi kanta Saikia, Principal, DHS Kanoi Commerce College, Dr Khanindra Mishra Bhagawati, secretary, Bartajibi Sangha, Tutumoni Phukan, former president of All Assam Journalists Union, Ikbal Ahmed, general secretary, Asom Jatiyatbadi Yuba Parishad, Udayan Kumar Gogoi, president and secretary of All Assam Muslim Yuba Parishad, Dadul Ali and Muktab Ahmed Chowdhury respectively and environment activist of Biswanath Chariali, Promode Baruah.

Dr Mishra, Principal of DHSK Commerce College, here formally released souvenir, Swadhin Kantha: which was brought out on the occasion.

SSM, Assam also felicitated Brand Ambassador, SBM, Assam, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, journalist Ramesh Saikia, and environ activist Promode Baruah.
