NEEPCO, AGBP losing crores due to scarcity of gas

DULIAJAN, October 19: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCOL), Bokuloni  Assam Gas Based Power Plant (AGBPP) has been losing crores of  rupees since the past few months due to scarcity of required gas supply from Oil India Limited (OIL) through Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL). This was stated at a press meet here on Wednesday at the NEEPCOL conference room by Hare Krish Changmai , head project mager  of Bokuloni NEEPCOL, AGBPL.

 Earlier, a team of officers led by HK Changmai had visited with media persons from Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Duliajan and Bhadoi Panchali to show various sections of AGBPP, Bokuloni. After showing the various sections of AGBP, Bokuloni to media persons, a press meet was held where the ceremonial lamp was lit by jourlists Jyotirmoy Hazarika and Ikbal Ahmed in presence of officers and jourlists. After this programme, Diganta Goswami, senior mager electrical, NEEPCOL, Bokuloni gave a presentation. He also said that AGBPP was losing Rs 12 crore per month due to scarcity of gas supply through AGCL from OIL. While  OIL should supply 1.4 MMSCMD, it was supplying 1.2 MMSCMD through AGCL for which last year the project had lost Rs 40 crore as the project requires 16,80,000 cm3  tural gas.

In the press meet, Dr GC Phukan, DGM ,M&H, DC Gogoi, DGM  (Security), NEEPCOL, Bokuloni  along with many officers were present.
