NEEPCO Likely to Release Excess Water from Dayang Dam in Golaghat District Again

Sarupathar: The hydro-electrical power project of NEEPCO has informed the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) of Golaghat district that the reservoir water level has again increased up to 323.95 metres due to heavy rainfall in the upstream catchment area of Dayang dam as well as downstream of Dayang dam.

The water level was measured at 12:30 pm on August 6. “If the water level rises above 324.00 metres at Dayang dam then we will be compelled to open the four sluice radial gates to a height of 0.25 metre at 16:00 hours to release excess amount of water on August 6,” said the manager (c) of Dayang hydro-electrical plant at Wokha district in Nagaland.
