‘NEIFM to initiate activities in Arunachal soon’

Itanagar, April 13: Union AYUSH Ministry joint secretary PN Ranjit Kumar, chairing the fourth North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) standing finance committee meeting at Pasighat in East Siang district on Thursday, resolved to recommend timely recruitment of doctors and scientists for scientific validation of folk medicine, expansion of other activities like cultivation of herbal garden and construction of transit accommodation.

The meeting, aimed at accelerating NEIFM activities to serve its purpose, was attended by its director, member-secretary Pekyom Ringu, DMO Dr M Perme, Union Health and Family Ministry representative Rajpal Bhatia and others.

When asked as to why NEIFM has failed to take up any cognizable activity, Kumar said that file processing is time consuming and Government institution takes time to pick up momentum but admitted to inordinate delay.  He informed that various activities would be taken up soon.

Ringu said that efforts are being made to realize the purpose of this national institute.
