NEIUC witnesses enthusiastic participation of students from NE

DIBRUGARH, MAY 2: The North East Inter University Convention (NEIUC), christened as har, began here at Dibrugarh University (DU) from May 1. The convention, first of its kind in this part of the country, will continue till May 3.

A number of universities of the north-eastern region are participating in it.  The Vice-Chancellor of DU, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Registrar, DU, Dr MN Dutta and Dean, Students Affair, DU, Dr Jiten Hazarika attended the iugural function as chief guest and guests respectively.

President  of the organizing committee, Ranjan Bora , in a press communiqué stated that the convention held under the aegis of DU  Postgraduate Students’ Union, would be marked by  debating, quiz, traditiol dance, fashion show  and music competition, besides display of cultural heritage of different States of the Northeast. Indian Idol reality show fame artiste Rem Gosh will participate in the cultural function to be held in the concluding day.

The debating competition was held on the subject was ‘In the opinion of the house defective electoral process is the root cause of deterioration of Indian democracy’ and eight students of different universities took part in it.

Harry Kaur of DU was adjudged the best debator while second best debator trophy was jointly shared by Shambit Kundu of DU and Taz Khan of Manipur University. The  Dean, Student Affairs of DU, Dr Jiten Hazarika conducted the debate as speaker while  Himadri Barman of DU and senior jourlist, I Ahmed  acted as judges.
