Nepal soccer team arrive in city

GUWAHATI, March 9: Nepal football team, lead by Sagar Thapa, today arrived in the city to play the first leg of the World Cup, AFC Asian cup qualification round match. The game is scheduled to be held at the Indira Gandhi stadium on March 12. Later India will fly to Nepal to play the second leg match schedule to be held in Kathmandu on March 17.

Nepal team, which is coached by Jack Stefanowski, has three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders and six forwards for this away game. Among the team members there are six U-17 uncapped players also. Anil Gurung, who once played for Shillong Lajong FC, too included in the squad for this match. The full team had under gone first training session this afternoon at the Sarusajai Sports complex.

Nepal squad: Goalkeepers-Bikesh Kuthu, Kiran Chemjong, Ritesh Thapa. Defenders-Biraj Maharjan, Sagar Thapa (captain), Sandip Rai, Rabin Shrestha, Anta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Rohit Chand. Midfielders-Heman Gurung, Ranjit Dhimal, Bikram Lama, Bhola Silwal, Bishal Rai, Raju Tamang, Jagajeet Shrestha. Forwards-Anil Gurung, Santosh Shahukhala, Anjan Bista, Bharat Khawas, Bimal Gharti Magar and Jumanu Rai. Officials-Head Coach: Jack Stefanowski, Asst. Coach: Hari Khadka, Team Mager: Ramesh Rayamajhi.
