NESO expresses concern over Manipur situation

SHILLONG, Jan  24: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), comprising of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), ga Students’ Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai  Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) representing eight major students’ organization of the seven states of the Northeast region in an emergency meeting today at Guwahati expressed concern over deteriorating situation in Manipur. In the meeting besides other leaders, the leaders of AMSU and NSF deliberated on the issue and the house unimously resolved that NESO is seriously concerned with the suffering of the common people due to the prevailing situation in Manipur. The NESO demanded that the Central government should intervene and take initiative to solve the issue and to bring all the stakeholders to the negotiating table so that the issue can be resolved amicably. In view of this, NESO will meet the Union Home Minister, Government of India and also the Minister of State for Home, Government of India to impress upon them to resolve this issue at the earliest. NESO chairman Samuel B Jyrwa, secretary general S Prakash Singh and advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjya said this in a press statement.
