NESO to lead massive protest rally against Bill across NE

GUWAHATI, May 20: Prompted by the North East Students’ Organization (NESO) from the front, the apex students’ union of all the respective states of the north east will demonstrate a protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 on May 21. The protest rally will be carried out in the respective capital cities of the states of the region. According to a release, the Khasi and Garo Students’ Union will demonstrate in Shillong, Naga Students’ Federation in Kohima, All Manipur Students’ Union in Imphal, Mizo Zirlai Pawl in Aizwal, Tripura Students’ Federation in Agartala and All Assam Students’ Union in front of the Raj Bhawan in Guwahati.

The NESO Chairman Samuel B Jyrwa, Secretary General Upendra Debbarma and Advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattachrya collectively stressed that though politically divided, the states of the region has always been emotionally and spiritually integrated. The trio hoped that the entire indigenous people of the region will not accept such an unconstitutional and divisive Bill. Maintaining the same volume of protest, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said that the massive protest collectively demonstrated by the people of north east is a positive aspect.
