NEUFC conduct grassroots development programme at NPS

GUWAHATI, Feb 18: NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) conducted a Grassroots Development programme at NPS Intertiol School here today. The programme covered important aspects of the game such as football basics, Child Psychology, Nutrition etc.

The magement of North East United FC (NEUFC) feels that such programme will help Assam and other states of the region to create its own pool of resources to represent the country at intertiol level on regular basis.

In an informal media conversation on the sidelines of the lunching of the Introduction Course in Basis Grassroots Training and Coaching at NPS Intertiol School on Saturday Abhik Chatterjee, Head of Grassroots Programme of NEUFC  said, “Such programme will help the NEUFC to increase the number of players from the region in the squad.”

Highlighting their plans Chatterjee said, “Schools are the best way to develop football in the country. Believing this, we have launched the programme here and we are very much thankful to NPS Intertiol School for giving us the platform. We will be more than happy when players from Assam and other parts of the region will domite in our tiol squad in future.”

He also added, “Team owner John Abraham is very much committed for the development of soccer in the region. We have planned to take the programme to other states of the region too.”

When asked about their plans to set up an academy, the head of the Basic Grassroots Training and Coaching Programmes of the NEUFC said that the setting up of an academy for the budding soccer talent of the region was very much in their agenda.

Meanwhile assuring the NEUFC’s officials to provide all possible help to improve the condition of football in the State, Probhati Biswas, principal of NPS Intertiol School, said, “This kind of initiative by anyone is always laudable. Such initiative will definitely help the NE youths to make their mark in various intertiol soccer destitions, including in European soccer.”
