New Bodo film Hatorkhi Pagla enthralls audience

KOKRAJHAR, September 19: The grand release of new Bodo film Hatorkhi Pagla has enthralled the audience. The premier of the film that focuses on drug addiction among youngsters and its manifold impact on education, economy and society, was held at the Bodofa Cultural Complex on Saturday.

The president of the All Bodo Artistes’ Association (ABAA), Bikash Basumatary alias Laloo released the new Bodo film in presence of guests and artistes while the general secretary of Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DUBA), Jogeswar Brahma pressed the switch during the premier show. More than 100 guests, artistes, producers and cine lovers were present in the premier show.

President of the ABAA, Bikash Basumatary in his speech said he was quite elated on the new Bodo film brought out by Raj Film Productions, Kokrajhar and hoped that this film would prove to be a success. He said the growth of the Bodo film industry had been hampered due to lack of infrastructure in rural areas, lack of concrete policy and support from the authority concerned of BTC and lack of viewers. He also said the unprecedented piracy of new films was one of the most challenging factors for the film producers. The producers, directors, artistes, play writers, singers, make-up men were not in a position to take films as their profession or career as they were paid less. In such a circumstance one could not expect the development of the film industry, he said, adding that the time had come for adopting a comprehensive policy to boost the film industry in Bodoland region to develop the culture, art and tradition of the region.

The new film has been directed by Chiraj Baglary. He is also the script writer and cameraman of the film. The film also highlights the negative impact of extreme modernization of fashion and standardization of family environment that mixes up with composite culture and tradition. The film has been finced and produced by Riya Brahma of Kokrajhar who also plays a role in the film. The film has some new faces and they could show their talent.

Geolang, Somai and Mandi are the main actors. Other actors of the film are-Riya, Akalabya, Hiya, Swapan (Degarsing), Dilip (Sadu), Rajashree, Bijit, Dha, Hazarika (Ajit), Dangkhwl (Gunobati), Mithinga, Ropon, Moni and others.

Talking to this correspondent, leading actor Simanta Brahma, who is popularly called Laden, said he was satisfied with the new film as the plot and climax of the film were well matched. He said the film was also successful in the technical side. He, however, expressed his desire that the last shot should have been finished with a message against drug addiction but it comes to an end with the drug addict filly losing his life without realizing his wrongdoings.
