New Bodo organization floated to raise seperate state issue

KOKRAJHAR, June 13: In order to intensify and to give boost to the 50-year old continued Bodoland separate state movement, a new Bodoland movement organization called People’s Democratic Movement for Bodoland (PDMB) was formed on Sunday in Kokrajhar at a public consultation meeting on Bodoland issue. This was informed by the general secretary of the new organization, KC Boro, in a statement.

As per statement the meeting was held at the PWD guest house conference hall, Kokrajhar and the consultation meeting was attended by the representatives of 11 different organizations from different districts of Assam. After prolonged deliberations, the organization was given birth through consensus and an adhoc committee was constituted with the following members as the central executive - president Jebra Ram Muchahary, vice presidents Matindra Daimary and bin Chandra Brahma, general secretary  KC Boro, joint secretaries Bathou Raja Basumatary, Minel Basumatary, Dhaneswar Basumatary and Biren Basumatary, treasurers Ansai Gwra Basumatary, Jaiton rzary and ndalal Basumatary and organizing secretaries  Prajit Kr. Brahma, Biren Basumatary, Kamla Kanta Brahma, Amrit Rabha  and Sasikanta Basumatary. Besides, executive members from 14 different district committees were inducted in the central executive committee of the PDBM.

The new organization strongly resolved to meet the government demanding to expedite the peace talks between NDFB and the Government of India and to find a negotiated settlement of Bodoland at the earliest and to launch a series of vigorous peaceful mass democratic movement for Bodoland, followed by its convention in Baksa in the first week of July.
