New body of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council sworn in

Dibrugarh, July 4: The new body of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council was sworn in on Monday at a function held at the District Library in presence of Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Dibrugarh , Lahowal , Duliajan MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Ritupar Baruah and Teros Gowala respectively. The 12-member team led by president Madan Chandra Hazarika, vice-president Gha Kanta Saikia and chief executive officer, Dipu Ranjan Markari was sworn in after the Dandi Sonowal-led earlier Congress body was reduced to minority due to floor crossing of five Congress members to BJP on June 24. The Deputy Commissioner, MS Manivann administered the oath of office to all the new members.
