New DFO of Digboi Division takes over

DIGBOI, September 6: Following the unprecedented turmoil centering round various allegations on different fronts of Digboi Forest Division, filly the new DFO took over the division on Tuesday with formally handing over the charge by Ranjan Kumar Das, the predecessor after his one year and five months tenure.

Bipul Bora, the Deputy Conservator of Forest at the office of the Conservator of Forest, Jorhat has been entrusted with the responsibilities of heading Digboi division as the DFO in-charge.

Bora, while talking to The Sentinel, on his first day at office said that he would not spare a single opportunity to serve the cause of green bio-diversity and escalate the entire green division into a world class standard design by implementing various effective projects to this effect.

Bora inherits many pending projects from his predecessor some of which include  declaration of Dehing Patkai tiol Park, by pass issues under subjudice at tiol Green Tribul, New Delhi, Development of Eco-Tourism, tiol AYUSH Mission, conservation and protection of flora and fau kingdom, continuation of forest protection and regeneration committee  and preservation of ethnic culture, and filly pending schemes pertaining to the conservation of major rivers including Buri-Dehing, Tirap and zirating Rivers.

Meanwhile, with growing mece of illegalities centering round the transportation of minor minerals and other forest resources by miscreants and rapid and ubated encroachment across the division, it will be noteworthy to see in the coming days the measures and strategy that will be adopted by Bora to combat the mece to reach up to the expectations of the people across the division.
