New Digboi MLA promises to focus on all-round development

DIGBOI, May 26: Filled with zeal and enthusiasm, 47 year- old newly sworn in MLA of Digboi constituency, Suren Phukon, following his landslide victory addressed the public and his party workers on Thursday at India Club, Digboi to mark the successful completion of two years of the BJP- led NDA government at the Centre.
Offering floral tribute to various leaders and martyrs, Phukon extended his gratitude towards the voters for reposing faith in him. He said that on May 16, 2014, the BJP-led NDA under the leadership of rendra Modi registered a landslide victory, virtually decimating the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Proud to represent the BJP party in Digboi, Phukon appraised the people and his party workers about the multi-dimensiol achievements of the Modi government and assured his electorates to bring in all the benefits under different schemes and developmental projects.
The MLA warned that the mece of syndicate, corruption, commission raj and other irregularities in any department would be dealt with in an uncompromising manner. He further said that matters relating to encroachment either in the township or in the prohibited forest area either by individual or by groups would not be tolerated anymore, adding that the welfare of the garden workers would be given due importance.
“The Congress has left Digboi infected with corruption, irregularities, misrule, syndicate and above all family-centric misgovernce. Now the BJP will clean up things and create a conducive atmosphere for all to live with assured two square meals, where basic amenities and rights of the people will always be treated top priority,” said Phukon.
The MLA later told The Sentinel that besides focusing on all-round development of his constituency assuring equal treatment to all, his primary agenda also included the issues related to illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis, provisions for regular supply of pure drinking water for his people, effective draige system and rural electrification.
When asked as how he would meet the expectations of the people, Phukon said that the Centre had laid an effective and scientific roadmap for progressive growth and put the onus on the State Government and the MLAs to utilize it to embark on a path of accelerated growth, thus proving their mettle and standing by their commitment to serve the people and the tion.
Beside party workers, the programme was attended by a host of invited dignitaries from various walks of life who also spoke on the occasion and expected the new BJP MLA to stand by his commitment to the people.
