New Ferry Services to Boost Tourism in Majuli Inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

JORHAT: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate four new ferry services from Kamalabarighat to Neematighat in Jorhat on Thursday which will further boost tourism in Majuli district, said an official of the Inland Waterways Authority of India on Wednesday.

Four new ferry services with a capacity of 200-500 passengers per ferry will be added to the existing fleet of eight ferries. This will definitely help increase the flow of tourists to Majuli district, said Manoj Bora, a transporter from Majuli.

The launch ceremony will be held at Kamalabarighat, Alimur Mising gaon where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with several ministers and departmental heads will attend a public meeting. After the meeting, the Chief Minister will leave Majuli via Neematighat and head to the Circuit House, Jorhat for the night, said official sources.
