Hailakandi, March 6: New Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Adil Khan said his administration would adopt zero tolerance policy against corruption and development alone would be his agenda. Addressing media persons at his office chamber on Monday evening after assuming office, Deputy Commissioner Khan said, “My administration will toe the line of the Chief Minister’s avowed objective of zero tolerance against corruption. Anyone found indulging in unfair or corrupt practices will not be spared.”

Spelling out his priorities, Khan said his first and foremost duty was to ensure maintence of law and order. “Peace and development is intertwined and both must go hand in hand. People must realize this and strengthen the hands of the administration so it can concentrate on development,” said Khan, a 2011 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Khan said with a view to weed out corruption from all spheres of administration he would closely monitor the implementation of all schemes so that they reach out to the beneficiaries for whom they are meant. “I will ensure that there is no pilferage or anomaly in any Government scheme,” he asserted.

Spelling out his priorities, Khan said he would focus on health and education and other important issues such as the ongoing NRC update process, making preparations for holding of panchayat elections and Aadhaar enrolment exercise.
