New office building iugurated at Haflong

Haflong, Oct 18: Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council in-charge Handloom and Textiles, ST Jem Hrangkhol, on behalf of the Chief Executive Member, iugurated the newly-constructed office building of the Assistant Director, Handloom and Textiles in presence of Executive Member, Mahendra Kemprai along with Assistant Director, P Jeme, Superintendent S U Ahmed and others on Monday.

This was followed by ceremonial distribution of looms and accessories, yarns under State plan for the year 2017-18 held at the office complex wherein a good number of SHG members were provided with looms and accessories and yarn.

In this connection, a well attended meeting was held with S U Ahmed in the chair. Executive Member S T Jem Hrangkhol attended as the chief guest and  EM Mahendra Kemprai as the guest of honour. E M Kemprai urged the weavers’ groups belonging to several communities living in Dima Hasao to avail the government schemes in order to develop their weaving skills and produce more and more products and make them available in the market. EM Hrangkhol also appreciated the officials of the Handloom and Textiles department for their efforts in making the rural weavers skilled with modern technology so that they can produce more and have a sustaible livelihood.
