New projects of NEC announced

MARGHERITA, March 13: A press meet was held recently at NEC Coal India Limited Margherita conference hall where J K Borah, General Mager, and C Momin, Area Mager (Personnel) of NEC Coal India Limited, Margherita and the members of Margherita Jourlist’s Association were present.

J K Borah said that the chairman of NTPC and chairman of NEC had decided recently during a meeting with the Chief Minister of Assam that NTPC would make Detailed Project Report for commissioning of two 800-MW thermal power projects in Margherita where coal for the thermal plant would be given by NEC, for which the Government of Assam had assured assistance in the clearance process for the new projects of NEC.

J K Borah said that Margherita being largely a region with fair number of tribals, it was decided by the chairman of NEC that Coal India would built a state-of-the-art football stadium with world class facilities in Margherita Block. Chairman of NEC desired to start coaching classes for the underprivileged section of the society and to make the Lekhapani War Cemetery a heritage site, said Borah. Many other projects under CSR will be taken up, he added.
