New steps to be taken for cleaning Guwahati and Kamkhaya stations

Guwahati, July 28: The Northeast Frontier Railway has found out new means to keep the Guwahati and Kamakhya stations clean.

First is mechanized coach cleaning .Under this contract rakes are intensively cleaned inside and outside the coaches with machines like high pressure water jet, scrubbers, wet and  dry vacuum cleaners along with branded chemicals. The pantry cars are being specially cleaned with hot and cold water jet machines. The second initiative is called Clean Train Station (CTS) which will be performed at Guwahati and Kamakhya stations for inside cleaning of platform return and through passing trains. During CTS, toilets are cleaned with back mounted high pressure water jet machines. Another means is the On Board House Keeping Service (OBHS) which is being provided to 27 trains which start from Kamakhya and Guwahati stations.

During the run, the coaches and toilets will be cleaned on a regular basis. The garbage generated will be collected in polybags. The sanitation facility will also be looked after carefully. Cleaning will be done by mechanized as well as by manual means. The NF Railway has also taken other measures such as public awareness, increase of work force, continuous monitoring of cleanliness development and strict observation of tiol programme like Swaach Bharat Abhiyan, stated a press release.
