New train between Haflong and Guwahati by June 17

HAFLONG, Feb 10: Chahatey Ram, General Mager (GM) and Chief Administrative Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway assured the people of Dima Hasao to introduce a train from New Haflong to Guwahati by June. Ram said this to reporters in a meeting at New Haflong Railway Station on Friday.

Ram along with Pramod Kr Jain, Divisiol Railway Mager (DRM) Chief Administrative Officer of the Lumding Division and a host of officials from NF Railway inspected the Hills Section of NF Railway on Friday.

After giving a patience hearing to the issues in regards to the development of Railway in Dima Hsao, raised by the mediapersons, the GM said,

“We had an issue like lacking in trained crew members earlier which has been solved recently and there has been heavy rush in goods traffic following which increase in passenger train could not be done but by now we have sufficient trained crew members and there would be no hassles to increase the number of passenger as per possibility and requirement,” he said.

Regarding other issues like sanitation and sewage system he instructed the DRM, Lumding to take steps to resolve the issues immediately.

Appreciating the mediapersons’ concern for the development of Railway in Dima Hasao, he also said most of the issues raised by the media persons of Dima Hasao were genuine and the Railway authority is committed to resolve the issues for the betterment of Railway services in this region.

Several organisations in Dima Hasao including All Dimasa Students’ Union also met the General Mager and also submitted memorandum.

Prab Jyoti Sarma, Chief Public Relations Officer who was accompanying the General Manger talking to this correspondent said the suggestions for the development of Railway services are always welcomed the Railway authority. He said in fact the NF Railway authority is committed to extend services for the betterment but sometime goes unnoticed.
