New VC appointed in Assam University

SILCHAR, May 6: Professor Dilip Chandra th has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Assam University. On May 6, Prab Mukherjee, the President of India, made the appointment. Professor th is a senior professor of the department of Statistics, Gauhati University, and hails from Barak. Born in Jalalpur, Katigorah, he comes from a very humble underground. His father Deb Charan th, worked very hard and is overjoyed at his son’s achievement. Professor th passed his matriculation from Boleshwar Higher Secondary School and completed higher secondary in Science stream from Gurucharan College, Silchar.

After completion of high graduation from Cotton College, Gauhati, he did his Masters from Delhi University. Always a meritorious student, he decided to for higher students and earned Doctor of Philosophy degree from Beneras Hindu University and Post Doctoral degree from Duke University, United States of America. Professor Dilip Chandra th started his career from Arya Vidyapeeth College, Gauhati. Then he joined the department of Statistics of Gauhati University. Till this day, he has published 160 research papers. He has visited Assam University as an examiner. He is likely to join take charge on May 16. He will be the sixth vice-chancellor of the University.
