Newly floated rebel outfit's camp busted

FROM OUR STAFF CORRESPONDENT
SHILLONG, April 26: A nondescript outfit formed by surrendered members of militant groups is in the prowl again. A camp of the outfit was busted on Tuesday in Khalu - Rongcheng area along WKH-SGH border today.  The outfit which was formed by the members of the disbanded cadres came to the fore when the Police acted on specific inputs before raiding the place. A Commando Team from Shallang police station launched a counter-insurgency operation early morning today and recovered arms, ammunition, gredes, VHF sets, documents and other war materials. The team found three SLR Rifles, one 303 Sniper Rifles, two AK magazines, two SLR magazines, three 303 magazines, seven Chinese gredes and huge cache of ammunition besides some incrimiting documents. The recoveries come in the wake of the arrest of one former ANVC (B) militant-Tengrak K Sangma alias Buga from the same area recently. These materials seized by the police are suspected to be hidden by militants with the ulterior motive of either selling them to other militant groups or using them for committing crimes later after official disbandment/surrender of the organizations, stated a police source who monitored the operations, even as he warned that these crimils are active in all districts of Garo Hills as well as West & South-West Khasi Hills.
