NF Railway showcases various projects in New Delhi exhibition

SILCHAR, Feb 17: Northeast Frontier Railway participated in the recently concluded exhibition organized by the Ministry of DONER, Government of India, at New Delhi. The two day exhibition med ‘Destition Northeast – 2016’ which concluded recently was held at Pragati Moidan to showcase the initiatives being taken for the overall development of the region. In the exhibition NF Railway displayed models of the ongoing Bogibeel Rail cum Road Bridge (4.94 KM) which will be the longest rail cum road bridge once completed.

 A model of the ongoing Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal new line project of 111 KM length displaying all topographical features was also included. The model showed the girder bridge at Noney with pier height of 141 metre which when completed will be the tallest in the world. Both the models drew wide appreciation from the visitors from all over the country and abroad who expressed their satisfaction at the marvellous work being done by Northeast Frontier Railway for achieving connectivity to all the northeastern state capitals by 2020.

 Model of locomotives plying on Darjeeling Himalayan Railway route apart from various informative items, various projects were also displayed. NF Railway has been developing railway infrastructures in 10 states mely Assam, Meghalaya, galand, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Aruchal Pradesh, Sikkim, parts of West Bengal and Bihar. NF Railway has already completed 15 new line, 17 doubling, 18 gauge-conversion projects apart from constructing the Kaliabhomara Setu (3 KM) at Tezpur on behalf of North Eastern Council and the rarayan Setu rail cum road bridge (2.28 KM) at Jogighopa.

 More than Rs. 28,500 crores has already been incurred for completion of various projects till date. At present 36 projects are being constructed by NF Railway, of which 13 are in Assam, 2 each in Aruchal Pradesh, Meghalaya and galand, 3 in Tripura, 1 each in Mizoram, Manipur and Sikkim. Out of the 11 tiol projects, Rangiya-Rangapara-North Lakhimpur-Murkongselek (505 KM) has already been completed and 10 are progressing smoothly.

 Apart from tiol projects, there are 25 other projects in various states. With the completion of these projects, more than 1000 km of new lines will be added and 560 km rail line will be doubled. Survey for new lines from NE Region to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar are also being undertaken by Frontier Railway.
