Ngamrothang Hmar new chairman of NCHAC

Haflong, Feb 3: Ngamrothang Hmar has been elected as the chairman of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) unopposed for the second time.

Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Amarendra Baruah, who chaired the session, revealed this on Wednesday.

This session was convened after the former chairman Shubrata Thaosen submitted his resigtion on January 28. The MACs present in today’s session was 16 from Congress while no BJP members were present in the session.

Kulendra Daolagupu, an MAC from Congress offered to move no confidence today itself against the present Chief Executive Member but it was rejected by the Chairman since today’s business of the house was only to elect the Chairman of the NCHAC.

MACs Mihir Gorlosa, Hima Keicom, Debojeet Thaosen expressed their happiness as Hmar was elected as the Chairman unopposed and congratulated him. The next session for the floor test would be held on February 5 and Debojeet Thaosen is likely to be the Chief Executive Member for the second time.
