NGO adopts school in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, May 21: The Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh, as a part of the Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) under TEACH programme, has undertaken to transform Laluka Prathamik Vidyalay into a Happy School. Facilities as clean drinking water, painting, and construction of wall, new desks and benches for students and furniture for teachers were some of the activities carried out by the club.

A meeting was organized on May 15 in the premises of Laluka Prathamik Vidyalay to declare the school as a Happy School. Secretary of the Club, Pakeeza Khan, spoke on the activities of Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh and the developmental measures taken up by the Club to make the school an institution where the children would be happy to attend as a Happy School.

Dr Wasima Jahan Ahmed, former Chairman of Inner Wheel District 324 expressed her satisfaction at the transformation of the school.

The Happy School was iugurated by the former District Governor of Rotary Intertiol District 3240, Kalpa Khound.

In her address Khound, who is also the co-chairperson of Teacher Support Committee of Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) said that a Happy School would lead to better attendance.

She asked the students to be regular and maintain cleanliness. The headmistress of Laluka Prathamik Vidyalay, Dipali Sonowal thanked the Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh for its benevolence and concern for children from economically backward families. Earlier, president of Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh, Jaya Kasera welcomed the gathering.
