NGO demands action against Tirupati Water Industries

SIVASAGAR, June 29 : Demanding immediate action against a packaged drinking water company for using polythene in packaging drinking water bottles/gallons,  the Paribesh Suraksha Sammittee, a leading NGO for conservation and protection of ture and biodiversity, has submitted a memorandum to DN Morang, Additiol Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar on Monday. Rupraj Baruah, president and Majidur Rahman, general secretary of the Sivasagar District unit of the NGO, said that despite the district administration’s ban on the sale and use of polythene, Sivasagar was witnessing a steady rise in polythene use

Alleging that Tirupati Water Industries was using polythene paper for selling the company’s 20-litre water gallon, the Paribesh Suraksha Sammittee activists said, “Tirupati Water Industries, located at Darikapar near Sivasagar town, is not only violating the administration’s ban on using polythene, but also using its me and logo on the gallons of Dew Drops.”

Expressing displeasure over the non-compliance of the district administration’s directions by the Tirupati Water Industries, they demanded action against the company for not only violating the ban but also posing a serious threat to the environment.
