NGO leader Bhuban Mashahary ‘Insults’ Public Representative in Public

KOKRAJHAR: A leader of a defunct NGO, Sikhnajhar Eco Tourism Society of Jharbari, Kokrajhar, Bhuban Mashahary who openly insulted the public representative of Mushalpur constituency of BTC with abusive words in the 15th foundation day celebration of Manas Maozigendri Eco-Tourism Society held at Khamardwisa in Baksa district on Thursday, has drawn sharp reaction from people.

Talking to this correspondent, the EM of BTC, Ansumwi Khungur Boro said he attended the foundation day programme of Manas Maozigendri Eco-Tourism Society at Khamardwisa in Manas National Park (MNP) on Thursday as chief guest in absence of BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary but one Bhuban Mashahary, who claimed himself to be leader of 18 NGOs, openly insulted him in front of the public during the course of his speech. He said that NGO leader Mashahary insulted him saying that he was not qualified and did not know anything as an Agriculture EM. He said that he failed to understand as to why the NGO leader said he was not qualified.

Boro said he had communicated with the president of Manas Maozigendri Eco-Tourism Society Kalicharan Basumatary and sought an explanation. Basumatary said that he would move for the legal course of action if the NGO leader failed to reply in an appropriate manner. He also said he would take up the issue with the Department of Forest and Tourism, BTC, for cross-examination of activities of the NGO run by Bhuban Mashahary.
