NGOs call for indefinite road blockade from Feb 25

FROM OUR STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, February 19: The five NGOs from Jaintia Hills which included the RJYF (Central Body), MPUF, HANM Jaintia Hills Unit, JSM and HNYF (East Jaintia Zone), after a meeting held recently, have decided to call for an indefinite night road blockade from 7 pm to 5 am from February 25 in both East and West Jaintia Hills district. The decision was taken after the end of one week time given to the government to make public the magisterial inquiry report probing into the September 24, 2014 Mookhep firing killing at least two civilians. It may be reminded that two civilians including S Phawa and D Siangshai were shot dead while injuring several others during the firing incident at Mookhep village which took place during the economic blockade called by the MIPRL in protest against the NGT ban on coal mining in Meghalaya.
