Nine Party Workers held for Murdering CPI(M) Members

Two CPI(M) members were allegedly murdered on the day before the Panchayat Elections.

Kolkata: The police on Monday arrested nine workers of the Communist Party Of India-Marxist, CPI(M) on allegations of the murder of two of the party's members.

Although the Police has refused to reveal the political affiliation of the arrested people, the CPI(M) leadership has accepted that they belong to the party.

The arrest of the party members is for the alleged murder of two CPI(M) members, Debaprasad Das and his wife Usharani Das, who died on May 13. They were allegedly murdered in their house at South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal when their house was set on fire.

Repeating the existant cult of blame games, the Communist Party leadership has accused the Trinamool Congress of being involved in the party workers' murder and then getting their members arrested.

The Trinamool Congress has rubbished such allegations.

Superintendent of Police, Tathagata Basu said that the Police has arrested nine persons in connection with the murder case at Kakdwip's Budhakhali village on Monday.
