Nine-year-old boy dies in road accident

BARPETA, April 17: A nine-year-old boy was killed in a road accident at Sariatpur village under Kalgachiya police station here today. Police said that the accident took place when a truck bearing registration number AS-19, 1689 mowed down the boy while he was walking through Lamlang-Kalgachiya road. The boy has been identified as Mased Ali. The driver of the truck escaped from the spot after the accident. The boy was rushed to the Barpeta Medical College Hospital, where he died, the police said. Meanwhile , irate mob tried to set ablaze the truck following the accident.
