Nirjuli ISBT, truck termils on course

Itagar, March 8: Aruchal Pradesh Urban Development department's dream project inter-state bus and truck termils at Nirjuli near here will be made operation by May next.

Chief Minister bam Tuki along with Urban Development Minister Pema Khandu, UD parliamentary secretary Techi Kaso besides officials of the department inspected the project on Saturday, an official communiqué said here today.

The ISBT spread in 82,697 square meter area along the NH 52 (A), larger than the Guwahati ISBT, will have provision for arrival and departure of government and private buses, a passenger's dormitory cum retiring room, food court, craft bazaar and office of the state transport services general mager. "The project at an estimated cost of Rs 19.8 crore started in 2009 and was targeted to be completed by September 2012 but only Rs 8 crore was release so far. Rs 13.16 crore due with enhanced cost of electrification if release soon, the project will be ready by April-May next," chief engineer Taba Tedir said before seeking fund to which Tuki approved.

The inter-state truck termil (ISTT) spread in 25,898 square meter area located nearby was started simultaneously at an estimated cost of 6.3 crore against which Rs 4.67 crore was only released, Tedir disclosed. Tuki during interaction with the officials directed to construct a road and a bridge over Dikrong River to link the ISTT with nearby railway station for transportation of goods, the communiqué added.
