Nirod Choudhury remembered

MAKUM, Feb 13: Rich tributes were paid to eminent jourlist, writer and son of Doomdooma, Nirod Choudhury on his 16th death anniversary on Wednesday.  On the occasion, the Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha (DSSS) organised a special programme which was chaired by DSSS president Arjun Baruah. The programme began with the garlanding of the portrait of late Choudhury and lighting of an earthen lamp. Addressing the gathering as the appointed speaker, Deepak Ranjan Baruah, head of the Assamese department of Doomdooma College recalled the contributions of Nirod Choudhury towards Assamese literature and jourlism. Social activist Govinda Phukan and poet Mousumi Patowari also spoke on the occasion.  DSSS secretary Nityanda Das offered the vote of thanks at the end.
