NIT convocation held

Shillong, June 21: 65 under graduate students and 43 post graduate students of the tiol Institute of Technology (NIT), Meghalaya were conferred their degrees at the convocation ceremony today.

The students were conferred Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) and Master of Technology (M. Tech) degrees in the three branches of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

Addressing the convocation Meghalaya Governor, V Shanmugathan said, “There are enormous challenges and opportunities waiting for you in the whole world. It is for you to face these challenges and work with unwavering dedication to make your contribution to the human society.”

“Graduation day is an important day in the life of a student. It is the moment of taking crucial life decisions” he added.

Shanmugathan also called upon the graduates to compliment their degree with the possession of a sound body and mind.

It may be mentioned that NIT Meghalaya has been ranked highly under the tiol Institutiol Ranking Framework (NIRF) instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development this year. It secured the 57th position among 1438 engineering institutions in the country. It topped the 11 new NITs and came 15th among the 31 NITs in the country, positioning itself above several of the old and established ones.
