No confidence against Meghalaya Speaker

Shillong, March 10: The opposition today moved a no-confidence motion against the Meghalaya Assembly Speaker AT Mondal.

Soon after the end of the question hour on the second day of the budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly, opposition chief whip, James K Sangma sought to know the fate of the letter on the no-confidence motion from the Speaker.

Mondal, however, informed Sangma that he did not received such a letter.

“I will find out (about the letter) and let you let you know about it,” the Speaker said.

The letter stated that the opposition intends to move the no confidence motion under 179(c) of the Constitution of India and Rule 135 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

The letter was signed by James K Sangma , John Leslee K Sangma, Witting Mawsor and Jemino Mawthoh.
