Silchar: A lot of allegations related to coal syndicate have been brought against the Superintendent of Police of Cachar, Rakesh Roshan. Both Pradip Dutta Roy, founder president of ACKHSA and Dilip Kumar Paul, MLA, have pointed out that the Superintendent is somehow supporting the coal syndicate which is going on in full swing for some time in this region of northeast India. Rakesh Roushan while addressing mediapersons at a press-meet held at his office here on Monday evening retorted, "It is easy to comment and pass remarks. These are baseless. The record in the last two years speaks volume. During my tenure, 32 cases related to illegal coal transport have been registered, 59 vehicles laden with coal have been seized and 64 have been arrested."
SP Cachar further said that since police has curbed and strictly stopped their illegal business, cola mafia and middle men are out to defame the police. "It is wise not to lend ears to gossip mongers and those who spread rumours, false information. I am ready to take legal course of action. In fact, the guideline and rules and regulations of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines are followed religiously. Owing to inhuman pressure and work load, none of our officers want to work in Gumrah. Even the coal mafia play a role in defaming our department since we are nipping the evil in the bud," he added to say.
"If anyone can prove that we are involved in corrupt practices and have malicious intents, I am ready to do whatever anyone asks me to do. Our department has successfully registered 16 cases against illegal import of fertilizers, seized 28 vehicles and arrested 30 persons in the past one year. It is indeed a commendable and remarkable job", said SP Rakesh Roushan. He further informed that preparations are going on in full swing for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ramnagar in Silchar on January 4.
