No more Porn Videos in India!

Whether you call it a good or a bad news, but this has happened already as the government of India is reported to have asked the internet service providers to block 827 websites that contain pornographic contents. It was a High Court of Uttarakhand order which later resulted in the government asking the companies to block 827 websites finally.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) as per an order of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) blocked 827 websites which were being listed as part of the order. An order released by the Department of Telecom stated, “all the internet service licensees are instructed to take immediate necessary action for blocking of 827 websites as per the direction from Meity and for the compliance of the Hon'ble High Court order.”

As a subsequent step, the Reliance Jio has blocked some of the websites on its network. Although the company has not released any official statement yet, this has been reported by some of the Reliance Jio users on Reddit that websites with adult contents are not accessible on the Jio network.

As stated by a Jio user on Reddit, "I've been trying to load a few of the adult sites but none of them seems to load on the Jio network. Is it just me or are you people facing the same issues."

According to some other users, Jio has blocked the lesser known sites only and the popular websites with adult contents are still accessible on the Jio network.

This was not the first time when such an order of blocking pornographic websites was released by the government. In July 2015, as well Meity had asked DoT to block 857 websites with adult content. Later, on August 4, 2015, DoT changed its order and said that the internet service providers are free not to disable any of the 857 web links which do not have child pornographic content.
