No repairs, angry locals dig up gaon-Jajori road

FROM A CORRESPONDENT

GAON, APRIL 18: People of five villages on Saturday blocked the gaon-Jajori PWD connectivity road at Barbheti Gaon in protest against the deplorable condition of the road which has not been repaired for long.

The angry people even dug the road as a part of their protest. Slamming the ruling Congress government, the protesters shouted slogans against PWD minister Ajanta Neog. They further said that the government had failed to perform in all sectors.

The protesters said the road was broken at many places and they had even submitted memorandum to the gaon Deputy Commissioner, urging for repair of the road. However, no steps had been taken in this regard, the protesters alleged, compelling them to dig the road as a mark of protest and to draw the attention of the authorities concerned. The protest lasted for three hours and later police cleared the road by chasing away the agitated people.
