Nod for evening OPD at SM Dev Hospital

Silchar, Jan 3: The district health department has given the approval to start the evening Out Patient Department (OPD) services to patients in Satindra Mohan Dev Civil Hospital. Hospital sources informed that the approval for the long pending public demand came on January 1. From now onwards, the patients will be able to avail themselves of the services from 4 pm to 7 pm during the month of October to March and from 5 pm to 8 in the evening during the month of April to September. Dr. Ashutosh Barman, superintendent of SM Dev Civil Hospital, said the patients have been demanding evening OPD services for a lost time. The state administration has filly approved the proposal.

 Presently the OPD services close after 2 pm. It puts a tremendous strain on the doctors and medical staffs as hundreds of patients come to the hospital for medical treatment every working day. Besides, children have to skip school and people have a take a day leave to avail themselves of the services. Now, with the decision to start evening OPD services, the patients can come to the hospital in the evening. Barman felt it is a significant step and will help the hospital staff to better mage the ever swelling number of patients.
