Non-responsive PO staffers irk Haflong public

Haflong, June 22: At a time when both the central and state governments have given importance to the post offices of the country, here at Haflong the Main Post Office has been gaining notoriety as it has failed to serve the people, the conscious people of Haflong have alleged.

The people have alleged that the staff of the Haflong Post Office are non-responsive and non-friendly to the people. Even the media people were also prevented from entering the office on the plea that they are not authorised to answer the questions of the media persons.

It is learnt that when the Senior Superintendent of Post Officer was contacted by the media persons at Haflong, the PA to the Senior Superintendent of Post Officer suggested that a written complaint be lodge as the Senior Superintendent of Post Officer would not talk to the media. After repeated approaches, the said PA again gave the phone number of the Assistant Superintendent of Post Officer which was found not to be working.

Talking to the media Golon Daulagupu, former Executive Member of NC Hills Autonomous Council said, “We are living in such a place that the main post office here remains almost non-functional causing untold sufferings to the people.” He said he has registered some important letters on June 12, but till date these letter are lying at the Haflong post office. He further said the members of the staff are also non-cooperative. They are not at all willing to give information with regard to any of the services.
