Nongtdu passes away

SHILLONG, May 7: Former Rajya Sabha MP from Shillong, OL Nongtdu passed away on Saturday morning. Nongtdu was a Congress nomited MP in the Upper House from 1996 to 2002 as well as a former legislator. He was also the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee chief. According to family members, he expired at around 7 am on Saturday morning after prolonged illness. Nongtdu started his political career when he contested the Assembly election and won from Sutnga constituency in 1972. He was re-elected to the state assembly in 1988.
