Normal life paralyzed in Kalaigaon

KALAIGAON/Goreswar, July 9: The 24-hour Assam bandh on Monday paralyzed normal life in Kalaigaon. The bandh was called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) to demand separate Kamatapur State. The student’s body also demanded ST status for the Koch-Rajbongshi community.

During the bandh, buses and other vehicles did not ply and streets wore a deserted a look. Government offices, banks along with other institutions remain closed. Adequate security measures had been made throughout Kalaigaon area to maintain law and order during the bandh. No untoward incident was reported.

Normal life in Baksa district was affected during the Assam bandh called by AKRSU. The bandh supporters burnt tyres on the road in various places of the district, including Goreswar. Almost all educational institutions banks and other commercial establishments remained closed during the bandh. Commercial vehicles remained off the road.
