Normalcy returns after killing of student

DIBRUGARH, May 3: The situation which sparked off following the killing of a Class X student allegedly by a mentally derailed person at Bamunbari in Dibrugarh district on May 1, is gradually returning to normal.

The student was later identified as Bubu Chetia. He was stabbed by a sharp weapon by one Ramesh Chetri while he and his younger brother, Pritam Chetia were returning home from tuition in his motor cycle. The younger brother Pritam also sustained serious injury and was rushed to Dibrugarh and has been recuperating gradually at a local nursing home here. The irate public later caught hold of the killer, Ramesh Chetri, and beat him to death.

The police reached the site along with officials of the district administration and brought the situation under control. According to people, the killer was mentally derailed. The police is investigating the case.
