Biswanath Chariali, July 23: The anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out search operations on Saturday in the house of one Mrinal Kumar Tamuly, an engineer working with North-East Frontier Railway, at Biswanath Chariali town. According to information, the CBI had earlier registered a case against Tamuly in connection with his disproportionate amount of property. The engineer, who had joined the Railways in 2009, allegedly amassed a large amount of money and property during the last nine years. At present, he is engaged in the Bogibeel Project of Indian Railways. The nine-member search team of CBI also sealed a bank locker of his wife Niharika Sharma in the Biswanath Chariali branch of State Bank of India. The team had reportedly found disproportionate property worth crores during the search operation.

However, Tamuly's wife Niharika Sharma claimed it to be a conspiracy against them hatched by their own family members. The local social organizations have demanded proper inquiry into the matter and also wanted stern action against the guilty persons.
