North East Olympics: Assam Contingent Leave for Imphal

GUWAHATI: A 238 members Assam contingent left for Imphal today to take part in the North East Olympic Games. The Games will kick off on Wednesday.

Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Muztaba Piar flagged off the contingent in a simple function at the RG Baruah Sports Complex this afternoon.

In a brief speech he said, “Best wishes to all of you. Hope Assam contingent will display good performance in the competition.”

Assam will participate in 12 events in the competition which included Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Shooting, Taekwondo, Boxing, Weightlifting, Wushu, Judo, Football, Table Tennis, and Karate. The Joint secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Anup Choudhury named Chef de Mission of the Assam Contingent and he will be assisted by two Deputy Chef De Mission: L Hemanta Singh and former Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Pradip Hazarika.
