North East Open Golf Championship Concludes

GUWAHATI: Jakir Hussain became the Overall Champion and SM Hussain became the Veterans Champion for players above 60 years in the North East Open Golf Championship held at Kaziranga Golf Resort on January 20.

Players from different parts of the region participated in the event including 15 golfers from the underprivileged background commonly known as caddie golfers and it was for the first time that such a major event was opened up for these golfers. The effort was part of Kaziranga Golf Club’s ongoing initiative to promote and develop golf in the region.

Following were the other prize winners and runners up in different categories:

Winners: Dulal Kalowar, Nagesh Singh, Ricky Dutta, Upen Saikia, Mamta Begum, Dr. Upendra Sing, Mansoor Ali, C.K.Bhuyan, Amit Khemka.

Runners Up: Kula Deka, Col. Abhishek Sharma, Bipul Tanti, Ashok Chauwan, A.P. Sharma, Binode Gogoi, Brijesh Kumar and Puneet Tanwar.
