Not aware of my removal from party: Nongsiej

SHILLONG, Jan 25: Nongstoin MDC LG Nongsiej has denied having knowing any information regarding his removal from the HSPSP here on Monday.

“I don’t know if I’m being removed from the party or not since I have not received any letter from the party,” Nongseij said.

It may be reminded that earlier the HSPDP has announced the removal of Nongsiej from the party in a meeting held in Nongstoin in the presence of party president Ardent M Basaiawmoit. The party had also elected the new president of HSPDP Nongstoin area Diosstarness Jyndiang, MLA of Nongstion.

When asked on his next course of action after being removed from the party, he said, “We will talk about this issue more in the coming day but so far I will not be able to comment on the matter.”

As per the statement of the new vice president of HSPDP N Marwein, since ‘Nongsiej showed his support for the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) he is no longer considered a member of the party’.

“The HSPDP has decided to strengthen the party by re-electing new members, looking ahead to the 2018 elections and from the party side we are doing everything needed to start the re-election of members in all the 39 primary units,” Marwein said.

He however said that the party has so far not sent any letter to Nongsiej, regard his removal form HSPDP.

“The actions of Nongsiej to give his support to the PDF without informing leaders of the HSPDP go against the rules and regulations of the party,” he said.

Meanwhile, HSPDP MLA from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency KP Pangiang when asked regarding the removal of Nongsiej, he refused to comment on the matter.
